Usually caused by swing mining, an issue with SHA256 and low hashrate, not blocksize. I don't know that Monero could scale right now with widespread adoption. Each has it's benefits.

I am thinking that reducing the block time for BCH to 2.5 or 5 minutes would be helpful for those usecases where a single confirmation is need. Would also largely prevent these super slow blocks >1 hour.
lowering the blocktime really doesn't mean anything as u would need to wait for more confirms for the same certainty. also the blocksize limit/scalability would have to b replanned too

Would this not damage existing long-term smart contracts? Wasn't this one of the objections to grasberg?

It's easier to trade with cctip and bullrun on other coins is likely the main reason. Faucet's been up for over a year and staking has been running for months so more in circulation.
I think a buyback and burn would be better value for money than an airdrop IMO - presuming this guy has a finite supply

We will continue to investigate the root cause. Reminder to be careful if loading your memo private key into other applications.
It is recommended to only keep satoshis and tokens on memo that you intend for daily use. This is also a good reminder to transfer larger quantities to cold storage options.
