Avoid taking out mortgages and using credit cards when possible. You might feel free at first, but when the bills come pouring in, you'll realize you aren't free. #MondayMemo
When I moved abroad, the banks there immediately pushed credit cards with 1000s of USD limit, even before I got a job. It seemed so predatory (and efficient).
Credit card = better consumer protection - using them responsibly shouldn't be avoided (I'm using them like a debit card - paying them off every month - 7 week delay, 0 interest)
Correct, and since credit cards offer better consumer protection than debit cards, the former is preferred for online purchases. Easier for a bank to get its money back than yours.
I would not recommend using CCs as a "real credit card" but as a charge card (interest rates are usually terrible and it's not a good idea to live on borrowed money)
