I don't think it matters to ordinary users. They will have 0-conf instant transactions with Bitcoin Cash. The block can take hours to be mined but the transaction will not be in risk
replied 721d
This is true. The user experience is not going to be affected by unpredictable inter-block times. We have the ability to offer secure transactions with 0-conf.
replied 721d
0-conf is fine for coffee tea and a pizza or rent.
Booking time critical payments for things like air tickets, hotels, etc
is a nerve-wrecking affair with BCH.
LTC works well.

I think if it has segwet its been compromised and cant scale...ltc has segwet and rbf...crippling the coin as a currency for mass use.
replied 718d
also 1mb blocks are useless for any coin that wants to be used as currency.
replied 718d
True - it is hopeless but only when usage begins to hit barriers.
It is still very useful for buying airline tickets and renting hotels.
for now...

LTC has RBF! You must wait 2 mins to confirm on LTC which is unacceptable for most tx's. Not needed for 0-conf which is fine for anything CC's are used for like travel.
replied 719d
Credit cards sit as pending for 24 hours and can be reversed after 30 days. BCH is instant unlike Litecoin. Have fun waiting 2 mins in the checkout line!
replied 721d
But in that case the service provider may wait for a confirmation to release the service. If it detects the double expense, the airline ticket or hotel reservation would be cancelled.

This solution is so easy and obvious that your example cannot even be considered a “problem.”
replied 721d
It is not an "example".
It happens every month.
The last event was a day ago - the transaction was not even searchable on Blockchair until after block confirmation. Pure Panic.
replied 720d
Why broadcast your travel agenda in the clear to the Entire Internet? Wouldn't it make sense to encrypt those txns, especially if the block time was still 2 mins and the fee was $0.01
replied 721d
Financial credibility requires the transaction to be
already searchably verifiable inside a credible block of the chain.
This is serious problem for paying travel expenses.
replied 721d
No, its not.
A broadcasted transaction can be seen in a block explorer as "unconfirmed". BCH does not have RBF, so DS attack is close to impossible after 2 seconds.
replied 721d
That does not stop purchases being cancalled by vendors due to "confirmation delays".
This is real and it happens to me a lot and probably many others.
These are facts not 'hopium'.
replied 713d
Ok, this is has NEVER happended to me. What service does that?
replied 713d
I dare not name them,
they are very good mostly,
I still use them a lot.
they sell airline tickets,
My bookings were cancelled and thereafter unavailable.
I rescheduled the trip.
replied 711d
Ok.
