I cannot comment on the technical side of things, but from a purely political perspective, BU should *really* go the side chain route for their monetized sandbox experiment
Realistically, BCH is never fully out of Splitsville, so a successful side-chain, that in the event of a fork could 'pick' a side, would give them the influence they crave.
