There will be more info coming about the APP, and you are right about the open source code from Wire, while Chat.Chat itself does not create any protocol.
Wire has known security flaws and it's centralized. What are we gaining by using this?
I understand where you are coming from. Chat.Chat as a messaging app is the gateway that it gives people who do not have cryptocurrency the easiest way to get into crypto world.

They have little documentation about their app. In fact, I still don't know how it works.
That's a problem for me. Someone alluded to them simply re-packaging an existing centralized messaging service.
That might've been me....source code says "<!-- Wire, Copyright (C) 2018 Wire Swiss GmbH -->". Haven't signed up so not sure what's been added after un-boxing.
