Do they need to have lost work due to Covid to qualify? I know that was the requirement up here in Canada. It was $2000 a month if you lost work, and EI became easier to apply for.

No. It is just based on 2019 earnings. But 90%+ of people qualify based on 2019 earnings. It does not take into account savings or 2020 earnings.

Still based on 2019 tax filings. I believe. If they do that $1400 payment to compliment the $600 one, many of us will be traversing excrement creek without a rudder.

I take it you are not a fan of the $1400 stimulus, why?
replied 1405d
Because I'll see maybe $250 of it between a $2000 stimulus and the $1200 payment made earlier on. Don't get me wrong, it's enough for sour grapes, but not much else.
replied 1405d
Because you made to much money in 2019?
replied 1405d
That’s a sore subject, let’s pick something else to discuss.

It does suck when you have a good year, and then expect the next to be the same. I was doing great in 2019, but things were rougher this year.

You don't live in the US, right? Or else you missed out on some stimulus money!

I am Canadian. I did get a $2000 cheque when work got shut down for a couple weeks, but otherwise kept working the whole time. We managed to shut down the right things and keep working

Of course, respect that!

I ...lost almost everything.

Two words keep me grounded now: Champions adapt.
replied 1404d
They do! Good to hear that you did not lose everything and that you are adapting. Keep your spirits high!

I don't have anything other on my mind to discuss right now, but maybe in the future.
