Battery energy density need to improve for general passenger planes. It is almost there.
replied 1287d
It's shit even for cars too.
replied 1286d
Considering the batteries get the cars to go as far as a full tank of gas the energy density for cars is just fine. Battery price could come down, but EV's are already cheaper to own.

There are a lot of cars capable of doing 700-1000 km with a tank. Show me what EVs can do it.

Also, you need more range, as recharging is a lot slower than refilling.

I want EV to work too, but the latest gen (tesla, ID3 and friends) are still lacking, this is the main reason for their lacking market share.
replied 1286d
I've never seen a car that could do that on a single tank. That said in ideal conditions vehicles go further. EV's exceed their range a lot when driving slower.

" EV's exceed their range a lot when driving slower."

The same goes for any other car lol.

My dream EV is a x3 sized awd suv /w 700Km range.
replied 1286d
Yes, and you were mentioning cars exceeding their range, which EV's do too.

The Cybertruck will go over 800km normally. I am getting the 500km version.
replied 1286d
Driving 500km in a day is not very common, so you waste less time charging than refueling over the long run. A Tesla recharges in about 20 minutes now, so its bot an issue.
replied 1286d
My winter trips are all 450km+. I can't wait to replace my current diesel truck. it can go 850+ km with normal driving. I'd happy with a 700km ev (700 when driving /w temp below 0).
replied 1286d
Also having the ability to charge up to 80% in ~20 minutes would be a must.
replied 1286d
So you want the tri-motor Cybertruck with over 800km of range by the sounds of it. It also charges up to 80% in about 20 minutes.
replied 1286d
That range would be adequate but the design is too radical for my preference.
replied 1285d
So at least the technology is there.
replied 1286d
For other EV's charging is an issue, but Tesla already has the infrastructure to drive anywhere.
