Consensus can be manufactured -- especially when the makers of drugs and vaccines finance much of the "testing" .
replied 1882d
Consensus can be manufactured in a system of competition you say? Scientists compete to disperse the others. You think they all just agree not to on certain matters?
replied 1882d
yup. Scientists compete for grant money and pharma pays big.
replied 1882d
The apply for Grant's. Better scientists get bigger ones. It isn't a lot of competition really.
replied 1882d
If scientist gives results favorable to the vaccine then his results are published and he'll likely get more grant money later.

Eg: Lawsuit filed 2010: two former employees accuse Merck of overstating the effectiveness of its mumps, measles, and rubella vaccine.
replied 1881d
That is not a good example considering it does not relate to competitiveness for grants. Also there are frivolous law suits. Try looking up the results.

I've enjoyed having this civil debate. We could go on for a long time and never agree. I'll keep an open mind and I hope you will too.

There is strong epidemiological data to support vaccines. Faking that in every country is not easy.
replied 1882d
When you control mainstream media faking stuff is child's play.
Who do you think financed the curation of the epidemiological data?

This article came across today: https://www.boredpanda.com/anti-vaxxer-asking-measles-protection-advice/ USA was measles-free in 2000, now the trend is reverting.

BTW, regarding measles, Suzanne Humphreys statements were rebutted time ago: https://bit.ly/1OujyVA

Measles is no more harmful than common cold. Having it strengthens the immune system. Meanwhile, a lot of kids have been injured by the vaccine.
I enjoyed the civil debate.

But deadly complications from measles are more probable than from measles vaccination. Also, measles are not really harmful... in inmunocompetent kids.
replied 1880d
We agree on one thing I think. Perhaps healthcare could focus on strengthening imunocompetence in kids. One clinically proven method is simply breastfeeding for a longer period.

You have far too much faith in the ability to control and keep things a secret.
replied 1882d
because the manhattan project
replied 1882d
That was actually a great example of how secrets can not be kept. After they lit the bomb the scientists laughed when the government wanted to hide how. The math worked. Its known.
replied 1882d
Thanks but I was refering to how they kept it a secret before they set off the bomb. Secrets may have been leaked/sold/given/stolen for the Russians and Chinese later on.
replied 1881d
The joke is that there were secrets. In reality the math and physics are available to all. The USA was just the first to test the ideas.
