Question: Who "pays" for the transaction? I suppose the gas (BCH) must come from somewhere, right?

The Post Office pays the BCH miner fees, in exchange for the SLP token. It's essentially an on-the-fly trade: tokens for enough BCH to pay the miner fees. All within one TX.

Ok, so if I send e.g. 100 SPICE tokens, 100.00<something> SPICE will be deducted from my SPICE holdings, right?
