It sounds like the problem with that is the repo for the Memo protocol is private. So any external efforts to substantially build upon or modify the protocol are not practical.
There are no protocol repos, that's the point of being on-chain. Also, this app uses many protocols, some we didn't create, like SLP and B://.
I intended this just to start discussion. AFAIK memo is not maintained openly and the operators do not seem to want to go into that direction.

I'm afraid memo.cash will never be open. Otherwise the creators would have maintained it publicly by now.
You can't really contribute to or build on a project which only exists in a private repo somewhere.
Makes sense. Hopefully there will be enough interest so you can lay out a more detailed plan.
