The "no-one can stop them" part in the end is of course BS. It should not be difficult to change the laws around patents so competing companies can produce the old versions of insulin
Or indeed it may be better to remove patents altogether. Patents certainly do not help the small guy. For a small guy, a patent is basically useless against big companies.
