Broke & financially desperate. Actually working here and at 2 other websites constantly to make every bit that I can. Yet I have food, electricity, a camper. and my wonderful husband. So in a way I feel VERY blessed

My camper failed it's mot last year ( a mot is a yearly check your vehicle has to pass here in the UK) had to scrap it as cost to fix was more than it was worth. Still miss it :-(
replied 1106d
Here it only needs inspection if you are driving it. I'm certain mine wouldn't pass if it had to lol
replied 1106d
I'm not picky at all about that type of stuff though. It's shelter is all that matters

I can see the advantage of the mot system, it keeps dangerous cars off the roads but yeah, when it's your vehicle that fails it's a absolute shit. Loved our old van :-(
replied 1106d
It's just regulations trying too force you to get another vehicle.
replied 1106d
Is there a fee for the mot?
Here fees for everything from speeding tickets to inspections go to local Government

Yes but it's quite cheap about 50 USD I guess. And that is paid to the garage that does the mot check. Don't think the government other than regular VAT gets any of it.
replied 1106d
Yeah, it's been so long that I've gone without doing one that forgot.... That's how our inspections are too lol.

Na, it's a good system. If your vehicle fails you have the option to repair it. It ensures cars have a basic level of safety and are road worthy.
replied 1106d
Well I don't like that regulation lol.....
replied 1106d
I don't like any regulations.... We should be held accountable for harming others & that's it. That would be ideal for me

That's fine untill you get a total arsehole driving a wreck at 100mph outside a school. I'll leave it to you to tell the parents of the dead children your zero regulation policy...
replied 1106d
I'd like that arsehole to spend the rest of his life passing 80% of anything he owns & any money he makes to the victims' families as restitution

And what would force him to do that ? A law ?

Also be a bit late then for the victim, but hey I'm sure their son/daughter will be happy to receive the random few $ he decides to pay

Or the parents having to open a letter telling them the lowlife that ran over their kid lost his minimum wage job so they won't get their $15 this month. Brilliant

A simple law that's says you have to get your car tested once a year to check its basic road worthyness. Such a simple thing and unless you a total cunt, something to comply with.

Sometimes simple preventive measures , things like checking a car has working brakes before allowing it on the road is the obvious way to go.
replied 1106d
You presume that the mere existence of a law prevents bad actors from acting badly. There are many counterexamples.

replied 1106d
Of course there wankers who drive dangerous cars with no mot. But this law insures the vast majority have their car checked for major faults they may be unaware of. That's a good thing
replied 1106d
A camper here can be just for living in. This is not an RV.
