Tesla is selling grants to other car manufacturers bc by law they have to have certain % in no emission cars. Plus in profits comes from there, not from car sales.
The cars sell for a profit. That is just a plain fact. Plus they get money from regulatory credits. They reinvest their money into growth instead of taking more profit than they do.
