Did you read the court docs? On pages 6 & 15, there are nice tables showing exactly how much BTC was sent to/from whom. AFAICT BTC is how they were deanonymized.
On the same chart they mention how they got the majority of the Bitcoin in 2012, before Monero existed. There is no mention in the document how they got caught that I see.
I read it. You don't need monero to not get caught due to that, they were idiots. There are vendors from the SR era still active on new markets.
