I know some in the community are against twitter on the blockchain. They say it causes network bloat. If memo replaced twitter that's 500 million txs/day. Good thing BCH is aiming for 500 billion txs/day. #dailymemo

If you aren't paying for a product most likely YOU are the product.

social media posts that pay the absolute bare minimum are very low priority and do not need to be confirmed right away. real transactions will always be able to buy into the next block

Anything that pays the absolute bare minimum are low priority. Could be spam, could be your paycheck. Set fees appropriately.

my point is that social media posts should always be considered low priority and wont spam up the network. posters can always set higher if they really need their cat memes confirmed

Your point, it seems, is that you're of the opinion that social transactions are second to monetary ones. Fortunately (or unfortunately) we now collectively decide what is important.

my point is that the market decides. if it has value, people buy it. if you have more use of a scarce resource that's in demand, you have to compete.

Memo is Memo: small messages on the blockchain. Let's see where it leads.

We could imagine semi-decentralized applications using Memo e.g. with a "Make it uncensorable" button.

I think most people don't want to pay to write something on the Internet, so Memo itself won't become the next Twitter. But it can be part of it.

twitter is full of inane blather, and its worth exactly that.... not much. if you have to pay < a penny per post, it cuts down on spam
replied 2266d
True! That's why we are here. No BTC trolls here 😁 Or they have to buy BCH to post.
replied 2266d
You don't have to pay to post anymore, and people can also *get paid* for posting on Memo if they do it well. I think Memo has real potential to dethrone Twitter, it's all bots and ads
replied 2266d
I don't think the faucet thing will be sustainable if Memo becomes popular.
replied 2266d
if someone isnt willing to pay a fraction of a cent to post, i probably dont want to read it. i think this issue will sort itself out
replied 2266d
Yes that's why I'm saying that Memo is not Twitter 🙂
replied 2266d
I do. If Memo becomes so popular that the current faucet funds aren't enough to sustain it, there will so many people here that it's almost statistically guaranteed it will get funded
replied 2266d
People who provide good content will have no problem with funds.

we are talking about fractions of cents, so people who want, can contribute.
replied 2266d
Definitely. People are so generous here, and commenting is so cheap, that I think the faucet (except for on BSV) is already funded enough to onboard users for over a year
