I suspect this sort of behavior, which is unrelated to lack of developer activity, will reflect badly on BCH and cause people to question how serious some miners' support for it is.

Sha256 miners are generally anti-bch and they proved their hostility a lot of times.

Its more to shore up the network & increase decentralization than for the coin. Even if I don't find a block, the extra hash makes bad actors work harder.

With such a low hashrate relative to BTC, everything is futile unless the majority changes the POW algorithm.
