Boycott all new vehicles that are incapable of making a simple phone call. If a car costs over 25,000$ and it can't make a simple phone call, it is a piece of junk. A cheap phone is like 20$..
I'd rather have my own phone I chose on the contract I chose rather than a car manufacturer forcing me to pay a high monthly fee for calls and data I already have.
My car connects to my phone now via Google drive and the display is mirrored on the cars display. It works well (except Google maps not understanding UK b-roads are often not suitable!
You have already paid them too spy on you.
And it makes calls via speech recognition through the cars microphone and speakers. Also reads out texts :-)
Besides, that point, your vehicle probably already has a phone in it, the government just does not want you too know they are spying on you in your own vehicle.
