The problem I see is that "eternal vigilance" is extremely hard to maintain indefinitely, while on the other side, there is no real cost to try and retry to do this.

I wish there was a way that "we the people" could properly punish individual people involved in stuff like this (no, not "state has to pay money", those money ultimately come from us)

But I do not see this happening any time soon. A system to let the people punish their leaders can not be institutionalized because then it in turn will be corrupted.

Hm, those will be viewed as potentially hostile foreign agent spying devices, and treated as such. Full country size counterespionage agency on your back and severe punishment.

What I was thinking was a culture that values and demands this kind of balancing counterforce to state power. But it will be super hard. BLM will want to punish the good guys and so on
