Lots of people think a solar flare would be the end of the world, but really it's only going to hit Canada and other countries around the North and South Poles.
It would hit some Northern states, it really depends on the strength of the solar flare, that is what will determine how far it travels to the Equator.
But yeah Canada is screwed. Then we would have a flood of refugees.
