You can't be banned. I'm not even sure if the site works in a way that completely blocking out your posts and profile could even be possible.

Ya true.

I mean, really the trial-by-fire will be when someone starts posting illegal shit. Memo will *have* to find a way to remove it otherwise risk the clearnet domain being shut down.
replied 2339d
Ya true. But not just memo. TX street and all the blockchain explorers too. Its kind of funny the ripple effect ive been seeing.

Question is, when something really damning and illegal gets posted to the blockchain, how will all these sites react to take down the content?
replied 2339d
I honestly dont think theres anything they can do about it. It would break all of their api's.
replied 2339d
If push comes to shove, law enforcement won't give two shits about how many precious API's you break to remove the content.
replied 2339d
But ya they prob would shut down some sites.
replied 2339d
But at the end of the day it will still be in the blockchain that they cant shut down unless they flood it.
replied 2339d
There has been controversy regarding the idea that anyone running a node could be legally obligated to remove the content or simply be forced to shut down to remove content.
replied 2339d
So basically be given the ultimatum of "remove the transactions and risk being unable to operate without consensus with the network or shut down entirely"
replied 2339d
I have thought exactly the same thing. I suppose they can go after applications like memo first, though people can still read the stuff raw from blockchain or use OSS tools.

But then sooner or later some big entity (country probably) is gonna go ballistic and outlaw certain blockchains. I.e. if you post lots of Falun Gong stuff, the chinese will ban chain

I could see it.
