Been on a plant based diet pretty much since the beginning of the month. Surprised how easy it is. Let's see how I feel after a couple of months. #dailymemo

Why is everyone saying "plant based" suddenly? What does that mean exactly? Vegetarian? Is it just a way to avoid the "vegan" moniker?

If a group of cows build a military installation in a tree house are they then plant based?
replied 1618d
for me it's cuz i got this idea from watching a documentary called Game Changers on Netflix. They called it a plant based diet so I'm just copying them.

So is it no animal products at all? No dairy or eggs?

Is “vegan “ bad word or something?
replied 1618d
Well, they are derided some as being annoying. Like the joke, "How do you know someone is a vegan? Don't worry, they'll tell you." I guess they're viewed as judgmental too.

Thanks for clarifying
replied 1618d
lol... I had not noticed that.

Congrats! Wish the best. I've been vegan for 1 year now and switched from one day to another. After 2 months I could stand the taste or smell of meat anymore.
replied 1618d
*couldn't
replied 1618d
yeah i can see that happening. i still crave meat, but not as much as i thought i would.
replied 1618d
If you haven't watched it yet I can recommend the movie "Forks over knives". After this movie I went vegan from one day to another.
replied 1618d
It focuses on how eating meat affects our body.
replied 1618d
plants have very bad absorption rates for vitamins and minerals and even contain toxins like lectins, oxolates and phytates. Animal products are better nutrition.
replied 1618d
could be. I don't know who to believe anymore, so doing this so i can see for myself. if after a couple of months i don't feel a difference, i'll go back to eating meat.

I was at the same stage a few years ago, experimented with plant based, got sick and depressed, like all vegans. Check out the carnivore diet and info around that after your plantfast

Buy trail mix and eat plenty of beans and other proteins.

I was on vegan for nearly 8 years, during that period, I tried with pure vegan, and then I changed to Macrobiotic. The thing with plant based diet is that initially you felt good.
replied 1618d
However over the time, you need to be careful because of the many toxins in plants. I would recommend you to read the Plant Paradox, there are good stuff there.
replied 1618d
In fact, many agri cultures have traditional ways to handle the toxins in plants, such as cooking (various types), fermentation, and processing to reduce the effects.

Animals eat plant. I eat animals. Therefore I am on a plant based diet too :)

Good luck to you! That’s awesome that you’ve gone through a month! Hope you get to the point you want to be 👍🏼
replied 1618d
My wife and I did it for about 4 months.. it was exciting and easy in the beginning.. but after 4 months it became tough to continue on with it.. I really just wanted to eat whatever!
replied 1618d
After 4 months did you notice much a difference in how you felt?
replied 1618d
I remember feeling psychologically good for a few months.. I think just going to a stricter, healthier diet in itself definitely helped..

Do you do any lifting or other athletic endeavors? How has the diet effected your performance?
replied 1618d
I don't lift. I do some pushups/pullups/light jogging and that's pretty much it for trying to stay in shape. I haven't seen any huge differences yet.
