Obviously it is hard to guess whether this is a hoax. I think the article is very slanted toward it being a hoax. Like "These two statements contradict each other". Totally unproven.
The way I interpreted what was said was that he got rich first, then he started to care, and then he did what he could to undo stuff (or possibly that this dump will do that).
It will be a hoax if he asks for money. He asked reporters and anyone interested to leave a message on etherscan.
Since he is already wealthy enough, there is no reason to ask for money for the data dump.
I wrote this part in the conclusion:
"I formally invite reputable press within the community to reach out in order to obtain sample archives from groups I've already curated."
If adyingnobody asks for payments before the supposed data dump, then this is an elaborate scam to extract money.
