As of right now, with my recovery efforts, ALL of my BCH is unreachable.. all due to the bitcoin.com wallet update on iOS. Through multiple avenues, I have still not been able to recover anything. I’m really bummed
replied 1528d
Understand ur situation, currently I also out of budget, pls take this small as my helping hand with u in hard time. Keep going dear
replied 1531d
pretty unacceptable things happened most of times we dont expected it.
replied 1531d
Did the support team get back to you today?
replied 1531d
I ran through quite a few different things with them last night... today I haven’t heard back yet... I really wanna get home and try loading the old desktop wallet up and try on that
replied 1531d
Try to relax until then. It will work out.

replied 1532d
This happened to me too! On Android. Importing to Electron Cash didn't work, regardless of derivation path or password. Importing to the desktop Bitcoin.com wallet worked eventually.
replied 1532d
My Bitcoin.com was updated on Android without any problems. I have 3 wallets all have funds. The difference. One wallet always used the same address before. Now the address is
replied 1532d
I think it was because I had a spend PW on the wallet..
x2dm
replied 1532d
Yes, they explain that they no longer support this here: https://support.bitcoin.com/en/articles/3568704-exporting-legacy-wallets-with-passwords
replied 1532d
I read through that... I’m gonna try the Mac version again... problem with exporting the file to electron cash is... support had me delete the locked wallet on my phone to reimport
replied 1532d
So hopefully this can be figured out without access to the old locked wallet...
replied 1532d
I thing so. I set no password.
replied 1532d
changing.
x2dm
replied 1532d
Strange... I think it has something to do with the fact that my wallet was created on a much older version of the app and with password encryption.
replied 1532d
Mine was created in like September or something when I wanted to try out bitcoin.coms wallet. It definitely was set with a PW though.. figured I was being smart by enabling that 🙄
replied 1532d
My wallet has no password. That's probably the reason.
replied 1532d
And how did you wind up getting it right on the desktop wallet?
x2dm
replied 1532d
Since you have the seed and encryption password, the money should be recoverable, but it was quite a hassle for me. I will not use the Bitcoin.com wallet again.
replied 1532d
Could not import: wallet not registered at the wallet service recreate it from “create wallet” using advanced options to set your recovery phrase.
replied 1532d
Then I was getting a network error message...
x2dm
replied 1532d
I did it on Windows (after failing to get the Bitcoin.com app working on linux at all). I didn't get the same error message as you.
replied 1531d
Loaded the older version onto my PC.. entered the seed + that stupid encryption PW and it literally came right up! Thanks bud!
x2dm
replied 1532d
I did get some strange network error, but I just turned everything off and on again a couple of times and it just worked in the end.
replied 1532d
I’m gonna try it again maybe on my PC. I’m so irritated right now. Maybe another go on Mac first. feel like I’m not gonna see those coins again. And over a total non user error.
x2dm
replied 1532d
I got my money out but I'm also irritated. They can't just drop support for their own wallet format out of the blue like this. It shows complete disregard for their users.
replied 1532d
Well.. I hope I get my money out also...
x2dm
replied 1532d
Good luck! I hope Bitcoin.com support will figure it out. It's totally their responsibility, you did nothing wrong.
replied 1532d
Thanks for the help dude!
replied 1532d
I’m hoping this is the case... I tried the bitcoin.com desktop wallet for Mac.. and I was unable to even import the wallet was getting the error message:
replied 1532d
Try to create the wallet as I have described here.
https://read.cash/@Telesfor/how-to-integrate-readcash-wallet-into-bitcoincom-wallet-80747c24
It is still for the wallet before the

update, but should work also yet.

a new installed .com wallet and it worked. Deleted app on old phone, reinstalled it and then recovered from seed which worked.
Had me worried for a while though !
Hope you get your BCH

replied 1532d
This happened to me with my digibyte wallet. In most 10's of thousands of digibyte, and a bunch of dividend assets too. No telling how much is in that account. So.... Try this
Justin
replied 1532d
Make sure every facebook app is updated. The fb apps cause alot of issues. Mine is due to a fb encryption library error which affects alot of apps a big time dev told me.
replied 1532d
Are you saying that when you updated your money disappeared?
replied 1532d
My phone auto updated the app... because I had a spend pw, and the new bitcoin.com wallet doesn’t support that, the wallet was locked.. when i reimported, no funds found...
replied 1532d
Have you tried the seed on the old desktop version of bitcoin.com wallet?
replied 1532d
Am going to try this again tonight when I get home from work
replied 1532d
Yes, but I was getting an error when creating... would not let me import the wallet and was getting network error messages
replied 1532d
Any chance Bitcoin.com has the old version you can re download and then try the seed?
replied 1532d
Was debating whether a restore from backup would work. not sure if it will install the newest version of the app tho. but perhaps the locked wallet support had me delete would be there
replied 1532d
I checked the address that I sent to from my coinbase account when I bought them.. and it appears that the coins are still in there... I’m meticulous when it comes to this.. so Idk
replied 1532d
I managed open my Bitcoin.com wallet using other wallets such as Electron Cash. If you want, I'd be glad to help if you have your seed phrase (don't share them).
replied 1532d
I think I’m quitting for the night.. I downloaded electron cash but the only option I saw (quickly looking) was importing from a file.. not a seed phrase... I’m really upset..
replied 1532d
With EC choose "Create wallet", choose a normal wallet and then select "Import with seed words".
replied 1532d
Tried this on my phone.. no luck.. is it related to the fact that my bitcoin.com wallet had a spending password?
replied 1532d
Oh, I didn't know about this. Is this password added later on, or when the wallet was created?
replied 1532d
I am also going to check my Bitcoin.com wallet on iOS...
replied 1532d
Or is that even possible?
replied 1532d
Electron Cash uses files to save wallet settings. After specifying that file, you get to define hiw you want your wallet prepared, such as creating a new wallet or from a seed.
replied 1532d
Tried importing the wallet into electron cash iOS.. did not yield anything in any of the addresses... 😞
replied 1532d
Did you specify the derovation path? It is m/44'/0'/0' (note the single quotes after each number)
replied 1532d
Yes I did this
replied 1532d
Also, by any chance, did you (ever) have more than 1 BCH wallet setup? Although using the same derivation path, each new wallet uses a different 'account' path.
replied 1531d
Thanks for your help... even with your scammy site recommendation!
replied 1531d
Many people put a lot of effort in building what becomes https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ tool. It works just like a calculator. I do not condone calling it names such as a scam. (cont.)
replied 1531d

1) I checked the code myself.
2) I checked the network traffic myself.
3) I also suggested an offline use to demonstrate nothing is sent back.
Have you?
replied 1531d
As I just said.. I was joking.. no offense to be taken... I was playing off of what the previous user had said.. I thought that was obvious. So again, no seriousness to that comment!
replied 1531d
LOL, okay. Inguess I didn't quite catch that.
replied 1531d
I’m not familiar with the site ;)
replied 1531d
I was kidding about the scam thing...
replied 1531d
I take it you've managed to solve your issue then. Cheers!
replied 1532d
There were a couple of subwallets in there.. 2 or 3
replied 1532d
The phrases and given derivation will lead us only to the main/first wallet. I'll check for the correct path for the subsequent wallets.

Meanwhile, did you try the iancoleman site?
replied 1532d
I did not. I’m at work right now. I’m going to check it out later when I get home. first, I’m going to give the Bitcoin.com desktop wallet another shot as that was Reccom again
replied 1532d
Sure, no worries. Let me know if you got it going later.

If you feel like reaching me in private later, it's https://t.me/Fockz on Telegram or @Fockz on Twitter and Keybase.
replied 1532d
Regarding Ian's site, it helps map out addresses without actually creating a wallet — clarifying the correct derivation path. But the legacy format asks for an extra /0 at the end.
replied 1531d
Default derivation path for Bitcoin.com wallets should be:
1st: m/44'/0'/0'
2nd: m/44'/0'/1'
3rd: m/44'/0'/2'
and so on…

To check the receiving addresses, use Ian's site and add /0.
replied 1532d
Odd.

To double check:
1) open https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ then go offline (opt.)
2) enter mnemonic phrases
3) choose BCH coin
4) choose BIP 32 tab
5) enter m/44'/0'/0'/0 (extra /0)
replied 1531d
That is EXTREMELY bad advise. That one STEALS funds!
replied 1531d
Hence why you go offline after the site loads. Duh.
replied 1531d
Ok, fair enough. But one should IMMIDIATELY after exposing the private key and get access to funds, move the funds to a new wallet.
replied 1531d
Yea.. if I can avoid typing my seed phrase on a website.. I will. Going to go a few different routes before I go there.
replied 1532d
Check if the addresses listed here matches the one in Electron Cash on iOS. If they are the same, then you did your Electron Cash setup correctly and we'd have to look deeper.
replied 1532d
electron cash uses seed phrase. If you have your seed, your funds are safu. Create a new name for your wallet file, click next, Standard wallet (if it was), next, I already have a seed
replied 1532d
Ahh shit, you have the backup seed phrase right?
replied 1532d
If you have the recovery seed it always possible to retrieve the funds somehow. Only question is whether it is neccessary to use another derivation path and/or perhaps with another
replied 1532d
wallet. The funds are there on the chain.
replied 1532d
Of course.. going through support from bitcoin.com the gentleman is saying that via my extended public key it is showing 0 BCH transferred in or out of the wallet.. this is incorrect
replied 1532d
He had me delete the sub wallet from my bitcoin.com wallet, then reimport the wallet with my seed phrase.. it’s not working... I’m actually starting to get worried..
replied 1532d
Either they changed the derivation path for their hd wallet or you wrote the recovery phrase in wrong order. First make sure the path is correct, their devs would know
replied 1532d
44/0/0 is the derivation for the bitcoin.com wallet. I'm not aware of it changing from old wallet version.
replied 1532d
Yes unless the OP created the wallet with a very old version of bitcoin wallet?
replied 1532d
I think it was the last update that I was using... definitely not a very old version
replied 1532d
Highly unlikely I wrote the phrase wrong. While the wallet was still there and locked, I was able to see the seed phrase and it matched exactly to what I had written down upon creation
replied 1532d
if not possible your recovery phrase is wrong but probably only by one word, or a mistake in order. You might end up spending a lot of time making small changes in the words and test
replied 1532d
The phrase I had written down, matched the seed phrase in the locked wallet exactly
replied 1532d
I was able to see the seed phrase even though the wallet was locked (which I think is stupid for a different reason) but it was the same 12 words same order
replied 1532d
The correct order is that a row starts from left to right and continues to the next row. Is there any chance that you wrote it down with the order of columns (from top to bottom)?
replied 1531d
Thanks for your help dude!
replied 1532d
I attempted to Enter the words based on this possible error... no luck. That didnt work either
replied 1532d
I mean.. the words are numbered. That would also be highly unlikely that I did that
replied 1532d
Don't be sad, I think everything will be okay.
replied 1532d
Working with bitcoin.com support right now... I hope I’m not fucked.. it may not mean a lot to some.. but that shit means a lot to me...
replied 1532d
Import the seed to electron cash
replied 1532d
Gonna try tomorrow.. but why wouldn’t the imported seed work when I did it via the bitcoin.com wallet?!
replied 1532d
That's a mystery to me. Should of worked. The wallet just overhauled big time, like major rework to the way it works that I'm not sure if it can even be considered a fork of the copay
replied 1532d
Wallet. Maybe just a sad little bug.
replied 1532d
Just tried importing seed into electron with multiple derivation paths... ZERO funds shown.. I’m looking at the address from coinbase I sent it to and it’s showing the funds
replied 1532d
In newer versions the Bitcoin.com wallet is not so good at checking all the addresses. Try pressing the wallet name, then the three dots in the right corner, then wallet information
replied 1532d
and scan for missing transactions.
replied 1532d
I’ve tried this multiple times over hours.. no luck
replied 1532d
When specifying derivation path, don't forget the ticks. They actually do make a difference. Something I learned just now. m/44'/0'/0'
replied 1531d
Thanks for your help man!
replied 1531d
So happy to hear that. Congrats!!!
replied 1532d
Yup.. they were in there
replied 1532d
Sad :( some bug in the wallet then it seems. Did you try in electron cash with m/44/0/0 derivation path?
replied 1531d
I got it! Woohoooo!!!!! Thanks for your help bud!
replied 1531d
Awesome! And you're welcome!:) what was the solution?
replied 1531d
Loaded the older version of the bitcoin.com wallet onto my PC used my seed AND the encryption pw.. loaded right up in that version
replied 1531d
Damn. Can't believe this should be necessary
replied 1531d
Them dropping the support for the encryption password because it wasn’t “high up on the list of features” was a stupid decision.. people with 0 tech knowledge will not be able..
replied 1530d
agree! did you mention it to them?
replied 1530d
Absolutely! The response., “ Your feedback in regard the removal of the ability to use encrypted mnemonics in the new version of the...
replied 1530d
Great. I hope they'll take it seriously.
replied 1529d
Me too Im still trying to figure out why in the hell not rolling that feature into the new wallet was even considered. I can’t think of one good reason.. I mean, it was already coded
replied 1530d
app is duly noted and is being shared with the rest of the team.”
replied 1531d
To figure all that out... there’s no way. Completely negates the onboarding and continued usage by a number of people.. mistakes like that, that is
replied 1532d
Yup.. no luck. I think it has something to do with the spending pw that I had in the account maybe
replied 1532d
Try to import in electron cash using single derivation path
44/0/0

Don't worry. Your funds are surely not lost.
replied 1532d
Yeah. The Bitcoin.com wallet uses the btc derivation path for some reason.
replied 1532d
I am literally obsessive with writing everything down... I know this is my seed phrase... but this shit seems gone... I’m so bummed.. that was a lot that I don’t know how to recoup
replied 1532d
Do not worry, have faith. I believe everything happens for a good reason or something. Maybe if the money was not lost you would have been robbed or fallen into addiction and died.
replied 1532d
By chance was this wallet used with tokens too?
replied 1532d
No. This was only a BCH wallet
