they just happen to have the same kind of death rate and cause the same kind of problems. I agree that they are not the same though, one is made in a lab the other is from nature
IFR for influenza is ~0.1% broadly across age groups.
IFR for COVID-19 varies dramatically from 0.003% for under-19, up to 5.4% among people in their 70s
There is also plenty enough data to be concerned about long-lasting organ damage even in asymptomatic otherwise-healthy people. Your heart, brain and gut all really don't need trauma.
