Businesses have to upgrade too...and users if you want to use your funds.

Not sure that I understand your question. I'm talking about existing businesses/operations that run their own nodes and serve customers. For them upgrades cost money and carry risks.

For all we know the non-updated nodes could be owned by the same guy. Dont forget that was one way how Blockstream managed to take over BTC, by running thousands of nodes supporting it

Thanks. Yes, that's a possibility. Although I have not seen any social media campaigns protesting the upcoming HF.
