I'm not sure why so many people are assuming they will jump straight into PoS with Avalanche, they've said they eventually intend to base selection on PoW contribution for over 100 prior blocks
SV shills trying to twist words. There is NOTHING in Avalanche that suggest any kind POS for the exact reason you mention.
Exactly. This confusion comes from the fact that Emin, the developer of Avalanche, used it as the main consensus mechanism for Ava Coin - a PoS coin that didn't amount to much (yet?)
I thought that Team Rocket developed Avalanche, and Emin was just a supporter.

Avalanche isn't a PoS system at all though. I think the notion came from how confused many were about the notion of avalanche in the first place.
AFAIK, the node selection mechanism is still undecided.
