I hate Pewdiepie because he's this generation's Justin Bieber, just with uninteresting videos instead of uninteresting music

Great point. Celebs like him showcase the inherent flaw in human nature (blindly following/worshiping someone....because you know, critical thinking is HAAAARD).

The bandwagon impulse seems to just get stronger, it's one of the most annoying things about American culture, art is just lowest common denominator crap now. They even ruined Star Wars

I started watching pewdiepie back before he had even 1 million subs. Still subbed to him because I enjoy his old videos. I just don't like that he doesn't play videogames much any more

I can see how he’s ‘not funny’: 1) Most of his content is just reactions to reddit/games 2) a lot of the funny moments in his videos are inside jokes or callbacks to other events

Of course, you can hate who you want but I see a few differences with Bieber. A lot of pewdiepie’s recent fame (esp from the right eg PJW) seems to be from the few times

I felt like most of his fame came from the "random"/annoying videos that held kids' attention spans long enough that they started to feel attached. The politics is just for publicity
replied 2458d
& politics for publicity in a way that seems similar to Kanye.
replied 2458d
yeah agreed. & the random annoying videos were where he built his base (first ~50M subs) only recently turned very obliquely to politics.
replied 2458d
he’s brushed with legacy media or sjws. A lot of support for calling out yt’s broken copy strike system. & Making jokes of politically correct language
replied 2458d
Only sim. I see with Bieber is being famous with younger people. AFAIK Bieber hasn’t made any political comments & hasn’t used is fame to make comments against the status quo.

I haven't watched him enough but the msm hate him so I like him.
