You know the US dropped two hydrogen bombs on itself by accident in 1961? 4 Megaton. In 2013 they declassified the information that one of them came close to detonating.
US did not allow Citizens to tell anyone about the bombs that Japan dropped on US, but at least that was to prevent Japan from using the info to improve accuracy.
