It seems unreasonable and gullible to expect providers of such services to forever avoid giving in to incentives to use the power that control of these services gives them.
Not only does "all power corrupts" apply here, it is also a question of powerful outside groups (like govts) using coercion, infiltration or other dirty means to get their way.
