Why is IPFS so fucking slow for large files?
replied 1994d
Do you think if IPFS gets more peers the speed with increase?
replied 1994d
That's the idea. The guys behind IPFS are working on Filecoin, which attempts to incentivize hosting files on the IPFS network.

So the problem of slowness is due to too few peers? Doesn't make sense if that's the case.
replied 1994d
Yeah, the IPFS network is essentially just its own BitTorrent network, that uses hyperlinks to address content globally, and blockchain-like versioning system to track changes to files

I say blockchain-like, b/c that word has become synonymous in peoples minds w/ crypto currencies. In reality, it is a blockchain and more. A blocktree, if you will. Merkle trees.

Dunno. I don't know the technology very well but I don't think it would make a huge difference.

And why is SIA so messed up for small files?
replied 1994d
Didn't know it was. Maybe Dat is the solution to both?
