The education system cannot be a state-run monopoly if we are to maintain a Democracy
I can agree with this. That said there is nothing wrong with a state run school that works along side private schools which is what we currently have.
The state-run school is never allowed to fail. As such, it consumes resources almost independent of its ability to actually, you know, educate children.
