New users to the site shouldn't be given a blind metaphorical check to the balance of the faucet wallet simply for signing up to the site. They should be invited, or pay themselves.

What happens next is obvious, every schemer out there with a WiFi connection hears about getting crypto online, and then they use fake accounts and begging to supplement income.

Precisely. Uther's tipping certainly does not help, but they cannot be served by Uther if they cannot make "first contact" so to speak to begin with without some satoshis.

Anyone can bring someone on to Memo by giving them some amount of satoshis. After that it is up to them to either pay to keep posting, or post tip worthy content.

Such is my case, where I have enough sats invested on Memo at present to keep my account active virtually forever.

Plus, with my UXTO's manually split for the most part I should never have to worry about block times hitting the 25 per block limit, as it counts per UXTO.
