I think it would be good to discuss some of the deeper aspects of capitalism now and then. There are potential issues with it that are worth exploring.

It is also worth discussing what role the state should play. It seems obvious to me it should be much smaller than in most places today. But still there are many options.

One thing that can happen if we just let capitalism run freely is that a very small set of companies own pretty much everything, they may own your land and your air and your water.

It really seems like this is happening actually. Only a few companies own most other big companies these days, which gives them tremendous power.

And then you have people like Klaus Schwab who says that in the future you will own nothing and you will be happy. Of course, what he does not tell you is that if you own nothing, you

also cannot complain if you get even a little unhappy, because you have no power. So you are basically a slave if the powerful (therefore corrupted) people who own you want you to be.

To spell it out, those who own nothing will almost immediately be seen as little more than farm animals and treated as such because that's what people with power do. Is that happiness?

A point that have been made by Milton Friedman is that free markets will price goods automatically, which makes it far easier to make decisions on efficient use of goods.

For example, if wood gets really cheap, you might make pencils, if it gets really expensive you might make pens. Centrally controlled systems have shown to not be able to do this well.

Some get really rich, some get really poor, this is not "because of" capitalism, it seems to happen in all kinds of systems naturally. Some have better setups than others, and they get

a little, or far better results. Over time this leads to a pareto distribution of wealth, which seems very unfair, and also seems rather dangerous, since those on the top have a lot

of power, and all power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, so basically they are doomed to oppress the masses even if they start out as good people.

Now, as I said, this is not "because of" capitalism, it is what happens in all systems. Communism for example seems to battle it, on the surface, but then the reality is that it does

not really handle it at all. To battle the really powerful, you need to be equally powerful, and those who are equally powerful are then in turn also getting corrupted by power.

So avoiding pareto distribution is really an unsolved problem. Decentralization might help, but I am not sure it really does that much, since some will fight you and centralize.
