I experienced the #healing effects of water-fasting myself in a 8 day fast this January. I met others who got healed from #asthma & #cancer. About the #psychological healing exists a documented study on YouTube.
It's probably a placebo.
There are people saying the exact same things for about every other "miracle" solution you don't believe in. So you already don't trust all such "testimonies"
