I always wonder if the focus of adoption is happening backwards. If the big box stores accept it, it forces the smaller merchants to accept it to compete. But we will see.

The first thing we could do is ask why big box stores are not accepting it. Could it be volatility? Lack of understanding? etc?
replied 1545d
Which means it's going to cost them some bucks
replied 1545d
I don't think it's volatility because it can be converted to fiat. It has to be worked into their POS systems because they aren't going to take those little hand held things.

I think it would depend on what big box POS systems are. I've never researched them before.

Generally the POS system would have a Bitcoin Cash selection and that would transfer to a unit in front of the customer with a QR code Kind of the same way as a Visa payment.
replied 1545d
And the unit would have to be installed on the counter as to where nobody can steal it.

In theory wouldn't it be as simple as a BitPay software integration?
replied 1545d
I was a Manager at Officemax and I just don't see how Bitpay would work unless they design a new software specifically for these larger POS systems.

I think before anything, there needs to be a large incentive for these businesses to put down an investment into this software to begin with.

Yep exactly. It needs to pay off for them. And not enough people are using it. But they won't use it unless it's available to use. Chicken and egg thing.
